Why I Recommend Cruises: A TravelAgent’s Take on the Ultimate VacationExperience

As a travel agent, I’ve helped clients plan just about every type
of vacation imaginable—romantic getaways, family
adventures, bucket-list treks, and luxury retreats. But if there’s
one type of travel that continues to surprise people (in the best
way), it’s cruising. And as someone who’s seen the industry
evolve and experienced it firsthand, I’m here to tell you: cruises
are not what they used to be—they’re better.
Let me share why I’m such a fan of cruise travel and why it
might just be the perfect vacation you haven’t considered yet.
1. Unpack Once, Visit Multiple Destinations
One of the most common things I hear from travelers is how
exhausting it can be to hop from one destination to another
—constantly checking in and out of hotels, catching trains or
flights, and packing and repacking. With cruising, that stress
disappears. You get the benefit of waking up in a new port
almost every day, all while your suitcase stays tucked neatly
under your bed. It’s a smooth, seamless way to explore.
2. All-Inclusive (Almost!) Luxury
Cruises are incredibly cost-effective, especially when you
compare them to traditional land-based vacations. Your
accommodations, meals, entertainment, and transportation
between destinations are bundled into one price. From
Broadway-style shows to five-course meals and poolside
lounging, it’s all included. And yes—there are extras
(excursions, specialty dining, drinks packages), but I help
my clients navigate those options to make sure they’re
getting the best value.
3. Something for Everyone
Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, with kids, or with a
multigenerational group, there’s a cruise line that fits your
vibe. Some lines cater to luxury travelers looking for gourmet
dining and spa treatments. Others are built for families with
onboard water parks, kids’ clubs, and live shows. And for the
adventurers? There are expedition cruises to Antarctica or
the Galápagos that’ll give you serious bragging rights.
4. Stress-Free Planning (Especially with a Travel
Agent!)
One of the biggest perks of booking a cruise is how simple
the planning process can be—especially when you have
someone like me to handle the details. I help clients
compare cruise lines, cabin categories, itineraries, and addons.
I also watch for price drops, recommend shore
excursions that match your interests, and offer insider tips
that only come from years in the biz.
5. Cruising is Evolving
Forget the stereotypes of dated buffets and shuffleboard.
Today’s ships are floating resorts packed with fine dining, art
galleries, zip lines, craft cocktail bars, and even robot
bartenders (yes, really). The industry is also making strides in
sustainability, with newer ships using cleaner fuels and
smarter waste systems. As a travel agent, I always stay
current with which cruise lines are leading the way.
Try a Themed Cruise:
Want to combine your love of travel with your love of wine,
wellness, or ‘80s music? Themed cruises are booming and
they’re one of the most fun, immersive experiences out there.
I’ve helped clients book everything from culinary cruises in
the Mediterranean to music festivals at sea. They’re a blast—
and a great way to meet like-minded travelers.
Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned cruiser, there's
always something new to discover. So if you’ve been on the
fence, I’d love to help you find a sailing that suits your style.
